The Home of Barnstaple Allotment Association

Our Association has been up and running for 6 years now and our aim is to raise the awareness of the allotments in our area.

If you have ever thought about taking on an allotment plot then this is the place for you. There are four allotment sites within the Barnstaple area so there is a good chance of one being very near to you. Allotments are changing, they have a new role to play, not only do people want to grow better more interesting fruit and vegetables but they have become a place to escape to, a pleasure away from all the hassle's of everyday life.

The information you will find contained in these pages is designed to provide the plot holder with useful tips and advice, please do not be put off by some of the downsides to allotmenting, (i.e. clearing your plot and pests and diseases) the information provided here will not always be relevant to you and your plot, the majority of us never experience all of these problems in one go. Great and rewarding things can be achieved in a short space of time, all you need is patience and enthusiasm, (check out our before and after plot photo's). Having an allotment is a great way of getting your hands on valuable gardening space, it's also a great opportunity to meet fellow allotment holders as well as a relaxing, sociable way to garden. There is always something new to learn, not to mention it being a great stress reliever. Nothing beats the satisfaction of growing something from seed, to put food on your table and being able to say, "I grew that" We all know the health benefits of eating homegrown fruit and vegetables and the Association is keen for people of all ages and abilities to get involved. We hope you enjoy our site.

If you are new to the allotments it would be great to hear from you, so come along to our meetings and introduce yourselves, all are welcome.

BARNSTAPLE ALLOTMENT ASSOCIATION IS AFFILIATED TO THE SOUTH WEST COUNTIES ALLOTMENT ASSOCIATION
