Site inspections

Barnstaple Town Council inspects each of the allotment sites according to a published schedule (see below). The purpose of these inspection visits is to check the condition of each site (access, security, water supply, roadways, etc.) and also to ensure general compliance with tenancy agreements. Site inspections are normally conducted by Kate Graddock (Allotments Manager) together with councillors on the Allotments sub-committee, and present an opportunity for plotholders and BAA site representatives to speak directly to officers and councillors about any concerns or questions that they may have.

The council also intends to supplement these regular (scheduled) visits, with unannounced visits to ensure that plotholders are complying with tenancy agreements, specifically the conditions attached to water supply which have caused such consternation over the past two or three years.

Whilst the published arrival times for each site are approximate (depending on weather, traffic and the identification of problems at other sites), the inspection team will do all they can to adhere to these times.
